Marissa's excellent legal team is working pro bono, which is wonderful. However, Marissa faces over $250,000 in legal expenses, such as court fees, securing expert witnesses, travel costs, depositions, processing evidence, etc. Marissa's supporters can mobilize to raise funds that will ensure that she has resources for the trial, increasing her chances of securing her freedom. 2. Our continued organizing will make sure that Marissa's name is not forgotten and that our commitment to her freedom remains active. UPDATE: 9/6/14
As of September 6, 2014, Marissa's supporters have collectively raised over $80,000!!! This means that Marissa's bond payment of $20,000 has been paid in full by you! GREAT JOB! Your donations have helped Marissa remain out of prison while she prepares for her December trial. The rest of the $60,000 is going to the Marissa Alexander Legal Defense Fund. Her legal fees are expected to be over $250,000. Our goal is to raise $100,000 for the Legal Defense Fund, by her trial date of December 8, 2014. WE CAN DO IT! |
